FNDH 342, Section ZA; Before the class begins, students must locate a food service facility and secure permission from the facility to complete laboratory assignments while working approximately 4 hours per week in the operation. The food service facility must receive instructor approval prior to the first day of the course. Appropriate food service facilities include school food service, hospital, long-term care, military dining and college dining. The food service facility must produce a wide variety of food products in quantities of 50 servings or more. Some food products must be made using basic ingredients. Facilities using all convenience foods are not acceptable lab locations. A copy of the Lab Facility Information packet can be found at https://online.k-state.edu/programs/dietetics-bachelors/ under Curriculum. Some facilities may require background checks, orientation, and/or proof of health insurance. Kansas State University does not sign affiliation agreements with lab sites since arrangements are solely between the student and the facility. Many of the files associated with this class are large. Therefore, high-speed internet access is strongly recommended. If the student does not have high-speed internet, it may take up to an hour to download each file. Students must be admitted to the Dietetics online bachelor's degree OR have instructor permission.
