Your Transfer Pathway to K-State
Welcome to the NEW K-State Transfer Pathways website!
Navigating the transfer process requires careful and strategic planning. At K-State, we recognize the significance of careful planning needed to ensure a seamless transition that empowers transfer students to maximize their academic achievements. Transfer pathways are a quick way to see how classes transfer into a given major at K-State from another institution.
These pathways reflect the drafted curriculum to be implemented Fall 2024 pending official approval to come Summer 2024. Check back regularly as changes may occur.
Understanding the K-State Transfer Pathways
Courses and equivalents are subject to change; therefore, Kansas State University reserves the right to make revisions to reflect changes in curriculum requirements or course content by K-State or transfer institution. These pathways highlight the transferable courses that meet degree requirements for the selected major. Additional courses will be required at K-State to complete this program. This information is for planning purposes only and is current as of this posting. These pathways should not replace official evaluations or degree audits by a K-State advisor. To prompt an official evaluation, apply for admission to K-State and have official transcripts sent from each institution at which you have enrolled or attempted coursework.
For additional information regarding this pathway or other transfer-related questions, contact transfer@k-state.edu.
K-State Core General Education Framework
Effective Fall 2024
This framework covers six disciplinary areas: English, Communications, Mathematics & Statistics, Natural & Physical Sciences, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. In addition, a seventh area is reserved for institutionally designated use, which K-State is keeping as free electives. In total, the framework takes up to 34-35 credit hours of 100 and 200-level coursework. These pathways show the courses within the Kansas Systemwide Transfer that fulfill one of the disciplines. Additional transfer courses may be used to fulfill K-State Core requirements. For a full list of courses and more information, please visit the K-State Core website.
Transfer Pathway vs. Articulation Agreement
A transfer pathway outlines a set of courses evaluated as equivalent to those that fulfill a major or degree requirement. It typically includes specific courses that align with the requirements of the intended program at K-State. An articulation agreement is a formal pact between two institutions that defines how credits, coursework, or credentials from one institution can be transferred and accepted by another institution into a specific major or program. While transfer pathways focus on the coursework aspect, articulation agreements encompass broader terms of recognition and acceptance of credits, ensuring a seamless transition for students transferring between institutions. For a full list of all articulation agreements with K-State, please visit K-State’s Articulation Agreement website.
Reverse Transfer
Following a transfer pathway does not necessarily fulfill requirements for an associate degree. Please work with an academic advisor at your community college to see what is needed to fulfill their degree requirements. Students transferring to K-State from a Kansas community college may be eligible for a reverse transfer. Reverse Transfer allows you to receive your associate degree from your most recent Kansas community college or technical college by combining the credits you earned there and the credits you earn after transferring to a Kansas public university. For more information about the reverse transfer process, please visit the Reverse Transfer website.
