Bachelor of Music Education136-139 credit hours required for graduation, depending on emphasis
The program of study leading to this degree is a nine-semester curriculum designed to prepare music teachers for grades K-12. With careful planning and enrollment during summer session(s) all requirements may be completed in four years. Within this curriculum there are two optional emphasesone in vocal/choral music, the other in instrumental music.
Basic requirements
Any additional social science course that addresses cultures outside the Western tradition (excludes those dealing primarily with the Greek, Roman, Western European, or North American experiences) 3 Two courses from the natural sciences (one course must include a lab) 7 MATH 100 College Algebra or higher level math course or grade of C or better on Algebra CLEP test 3 STAT 320 Elements of Statistics or higher level statistics course 3 FSHS 110 Introduction to Human Development 3 Electives to complete a total of 46 hours (not more than 3 hours of music may be counted.)
